Virtual Fire Space

This project is a mod for the Source engine, bringing to life the danger and everyday perils of being a firefighter.

VFS is a complete overhaul mod, introducing new weapons, NPCs and various locations. It was designed as an instructional tool for anyone to try and learn from the experience. Research was undertaken to include all aspects of a firefighters job, ranging from; different fires, scenarios, procedures to personal safety.

For this project to stand out I had to ensure the core mechanic would work. In Half Life 2 fire extinguishers do not work as intended, especially as usable items. I found an abandoned project with coded extinguishers. This was only half implemented, so I had to learn how to create new weapon and view models as it currently used a machine gun as an extinguisher!
